This article documents an interview that I conducted in June 2020 with Jane Case B.S., MEd, MSN, Director, Practical Nurse Program, Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School, located in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
The Monty Tech PN program experienced a drop in its historically high NCLEX-PN® pass rate of 92%-94% to below 80% in 2017. An ongoing NCLEX® pass rate of 80% for first-time test takers is the minimum requirement for continued program approval by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. The Monty Tech PN program faculty decided to purchase the NCLEX® Program Reports to help them identify curricular issues that may have contributed to this drop and return the Program to a pass rate above 80%.
