Blog 002: A Review of the 2018 QSEN International Forum: Lessons Learned Integrating QSEN Competencies into Nursing Curricula

I was honored to attend the 2018 QSEN International Forum in Bonita Springs, Florida. The conference was packed with stimulating speakers and content that was relevant to attendees from diverse settings. Here’s a brief review of some of my experiences.

The Forum entitled "Oceans of Opportunity: Evidence-based Practice to Improve Quality and Safety in Education and Practice" showcased interesting and effective strategies to assist faculty and healthcare professionals in achieving these goals such as “unfolding case studies” and using the medication reconciliation process to link measurement of outcomes to clinical and classroom achievement. Altmiller (QSEN, 2018) advocated strategies for completely integrating the QSEN Competencies of patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement and informatics into learning at all levels of nursing education.
