In an effort to support the Next Generation NCLEX®, Mountain Measurement, Inc. and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing released a new reporting platform in November, 2023 which subscribing nursing programs now use to access the NCLEX® Program Reports. The NCSBN® Performance Reports Support Center has compiled a list of common questions that nurse educators have asked which pertain to the new NCSBN® Performance Reports reporting platform and the improved NCLEX® Program Reports.

Q: Who should be accessing the NCLEX® Program Reports?
A: Given that the new reporting platform is interactive, the nurse educators who will be analyzing and interpreting the NCLEX® Program Reports should be logging in and directly accessing their program's NCLEX® Program Reports. Mountain Measurement discourages administrative assistants from accessing the NCLEX® Program Reports and providing a PDF of the NCLEX® Program Reports to relevant nurse educators since the PDF cannot provide complete information and is unable to leverage the power of the interactive user interface.

Mountain Measurement has found that program evaluation outcomes are optimized when all stakeholders are involved. Therefore, Mountain Measurement encourages programs to invite all of their faculty members to sign up for free NCSBN® Performance Reports Website user accounts. At a minimum, the program director, program evaluation lead, an administrative support staff member, and a procurement or finance office staff member should sign up for a free NCSBN® Performance Reports Website user account.

Q: How do nurse educators access the NCLEX® Program Reports?
A: Nurse educators need to create a user account and link their user account to the program(s) for which they are affiliated. See "New to the Next Gen NCLEX® Program Reports" for more information.

Q: How do I create a user account on the NCSBN® Performance Reports Website?
A: Head to the "sign up" page of the NCSBN® Performance Reports Website. Enter your email, name, title, phone number, group and password and click on the "Register" button. You will then be taken to the "My Profile" page. From here, click "Educational Programs". On the "Educational Programs" page, type your educational program code into the search window and click "Search." When your program appears, click the checkbox next to it and save your changes. An email will be sent to your program administrator requesting that they link your user account with the program. After your program administrator approves your request, the programs you are associated with will be shown at the bottom of your profile page. If your program does not have an active program administrator, contact the NCSBN® Performance Reports Support Center.

Q: Can I still download the NCLEX® Program Reports?
A: Yes. However, the real value of the new NCSBN® Performance Reports reporting platform is the ability of nursing educators to interact with the tables and charts to isolate topics of interest, relevant comparison groups, and desired reporting periods. Mountain Measurement recommends that all active nurse educators create a user account on the NCSBN® Performance Reports Website and access the program reports themselves.
If you do still need to download the NCLEX® Program Reports, be sure to select the desired data sets from the dropdown lists associated with the tables and charts of the chapter before you click the "Download PDF" button. The downloaded PDF will reflect the selections in the dropdown lists.
If you only want to copy one of the charts, check out the icons located in the top right hand corner of the chart itself. Click on the left most icon, "Download plot as a png" and you can open the image in your browser or any software capable of rendering images.

Q: When I try to download the Program Reports, I receive an error message which states, 'Failed to load PDF document'. What happened?
A: You're probably trying to access a 2023-2024 NCLEX® Program Reports subscription on the "Old" NCLEX® Program Reports section of the NCSBN® Performance Reports Website. As of July 1, 2023, the NCLEX® Program Reports are no longer provided in the old format. To access a 2023-2024 NCLEX® Program Reports subscription, log into the NCSBN® Performance Reports Website and hover over the "Program Reports" dropdown menu at the top of the page. Rather than selecting "Access Old NCLEX® Program Reports", select "Access Next Gen NCLEX® Program Reports". The "Access Next Gen NCLEX® Program Reports" page will display the current paid NCLEX® Program Reports subscriptions for each of your affiliated educational programs. Click on the desired NCLEX® Program Reports subscription and you will be directed to 2023-2024 NCLEX® Program Reports.

Q: How do I know that I have actually reached the NCLEX® Program Reports on the NCSBN® Performance Reports website?
A: The following URL will be displayed in your browser's address "https://transom.mountainmeasurement.com/reports_plotly/{number}/details?rgo_id={number}" and you will see the NCLEX® Program Reports chapter titles (Introduction, Use & Interpretation, etc....) in the left column.

Q: Have the report periods changed?
A: The report year and report periods have not changed. For a schedule of when Mountain Measurement and NCSBN update the program reports data, visit the "Learn More About Next Gen NCLEX Program Reports" page.

Q: What time period does the Annual Report Period cover?
A: The NCLEX® Program Reports Annual Report Period runs from April 1 through March 31 of the following year. This date range may be different than the annual report period used by your nursing regulatory body (NRB). If you notice that the passing rate reported on your NCLEX® Program Reports for an annual report period differs from the passing rate reported for the corresponding annual report period of other reports, check the date range of the other reports. If the date ranges are different from April 1 through March 31, then you should not expect the number of test takers and passing rate to be the same as those reported by the NCLEX® Program Reports.

Q: When reviewing my NCLEX® Program Reports, how do I display different report periods?
A: The NCSBN® Performance Reports reporting platform allows users to review the Program Reports online and to interact with each table and chart to isolate topics of interest, relevant comparison groups, and desired reporting periods. Interact with each of these figures by adjusting the dropdown menus located just above the data.

Q: Where can I find out more about the questions discussed in this article or about the NCLEX® Program Reports?
A: Visit the NCSBN® Performance Reports Website's Support page.
