320 - Designing and Conducting Program Evaluation Studies

This is the second course offered as part of the Program Evaluation Series. The Program Evaluation Series is intended to provide educators and administrators with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to participate in and lead program evaluation activities at their organization.

Prerequisites and Target Audience

There are no prerequisites to attend this course. This web-based course is intended for educators and administrators with 0 to 3 years of experience participating in program evaluation.

Purpose

The purpose of this course is to prepare educators and administrators to lead program evaluation studies.

Learning Outcomes

Upon course completion, participants will be able to:

  • Create useful evaluation questions.
  • Define the scope of an evaluation study.
  • Design an evaluation study.
  • Operationalize evaluation constructs.
  • Collect or obtain evaluation study data.
  • Clean evaluation study data.
  • Analyze program evaluation data.
  • Synthesize and interpret program evaluation analyses.
  • Prepare a useful evaluation study report.

Format

Course 320 is delivered as a 3-hour synchronous, web-based experience which includes a mix of lecture, individual and small group activities, and a 30-minute Question and Answer session. Participants are expected to independently complete a 30-minute end-of-course assessment immediately after the course concludes.

Continuing Education

3.5 contact hours are awarded through the Alabama Board of Nursing (Provider Number ABNP1516 Expires 2/4/2025) to all individuals completing the course and the end-of-course assessment.
