210 - Identifying Trends in your Program's Performance using the Supplemental CSV Files

This seminar is offered as part of the web-based, self-paced Concept Analysis Series, intended to familiarize nurse educators and administrators with the NCLEX® Program Reports Supplemental CSV files.

Prerequisites and Target Audience

In order to receive continuing education credit, attendees must have completed:

the former 100 Course "An Introduction to the NCLEX® Program Reports", or the full self-paced Introductory Series (101 ‐ An Orientation to the NCLEX® Program Reports, 102 - Understanding the Overall Performance of Your Candidates, and 103 ‐ Understanding the Topic Area Performance of your Candidates)

AND

the former 200 Course "Analyzing and Interpreting the NCLEX® Program Reports" or the at least the first course in the self-paced Analysis Series (201 ‐ The Basic NCLEX® Program Reports Analysis Process)

Topics

The topics covered during the Professional Development 210 Course are:

  1. An Introduction to the Supplemental CSV Files
    • The Supplemental CSV Zip file and its contents
    • Unzipping and opening Supplemental CSV Files
    • The fields (columns) of the Supplemental CSV files
    • The difference between NCLEX® Percentile Ranks and traditional percentile ranks
    • Test Taking Behavior
  2. Using the Supplemental CSV Files
    • Setting up a Master Spreadsheet
    • Importing Supplemental CSV files into a Relational Database (e.g., SQL, Oracle, Access)
    • Comparing the performance of different programs within the same organization (e.g., ADN vs. BSN)
    • Comparing the performance of a single program across different reference groups
    • Understanding the performance of a single program over an extended period of time

Materials

All participants must bring a laptop or similar device capable of running spreadsheet, data visualization, or statistical analysis software, and are encouraged to have downloaded their programs Supplemental CSV files.

Format

This NCLEX® Program Reports seminar is a "computer lab" course. The format includes a mix of presentations, discussions, individual and group exercises designed to maximize learning.

Purpose

The purpose of this seminar is to familiarize participants with the NCLEX® Program Reports Supplemental CSV files. Upon completion, participants will have the skills necessary to use the Supplemental CSV files to compare the performance of different programs and to monitor performance trends over time.

Continuing Education

3.5 contact hours are awarded through the Alabama Board of Nursing (Provider Number ABNP1516 Expires 2/4/2025) to all individuals completing the webinar and the end-of-course assessment.
